Marion Barry’s 81st Birthday Celebration at the Wilson Building

20170306_181931The event to commemorate the 81st birthday of DC Mayor for Life, Marion Barry, took place on March 6, 2017.   Guests included:  Cora Masters Barry, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, DC Council Chairman Phil Mendelson, Representative Franklin Garcia, Dominican Ambassador Elic Fernandez, Councilmembers, and many others.  At the event Mrs. Barry thanked all that continue to keep the memory of the Mayor for Life alive, not only by honoring him, but by doing his work.  DC Chairman Phil Mendelson reminded everyone that the Mayor for Life served as many years on the DC Council as he did as Mayor of District of Columbia.   The ceremony, which included the unveiling of 2 statues to honor the Mayor for Life, Marion Barry, was followed by a dinner reception.
