Dream March on Washington for DC Statehood, Green Earth, and Justice

The Douglass Commonwealth Coalition Inc., held a DC Statehood Rally on the 58th anniversary of the March on Washington.  The Event was held on August 28, 2021 at Freedom Plaza in Washington DC.  Participants of the rally included DC Mayor Muriel Bower, the Reverend Dr. William J. Barber III, US Senator Michael Brown and the President and CEO of the NAACP, Mr. Derrick Johnson.  The event lasted about 2 hours, and included performance by the East Coast Indigenous People.  The event was moderated by Charles Moreland, the first US Representative for Washington DC, and former US Representative from DC, Franklin Garcia.  Upon conclusion of the rally, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser led a group of DC Statehood supporters on a march to the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, the same location where in 1963 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., delivered his I HAVE A DREAM speech.  This event was one of many planned for the weekend of the 58th anniversary of the March on Washington.  For a complete list of scheduled events, please visit http://douglasscommonwealth.us/.
