Hundreds of DC residents showed up to march for peace during the 7th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Peace Walk in the southeast part of the city. The tradition that started over 30 years ago with a parade has turned into a Peace Walk. Both events mark the birth, and now the Federal Holiday, of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Many individuals and organizations took part in the 2 mile long walk on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Avenue in Ward 8. Amongst the participants was the general council of El Salvador, the Honorable Dagoberto Torres from the El Salvador Embassy, who talked about the significance of honoring Dr. King’s legacy throughout the Americas.
