DC Statehood advocates put together a DC Statehood float for the Palisades 4th of July Parade 2023.  The float was decorated with US and DC flags, and played patriotic songs along the parade route.  The float was led by Franklin Garcia and Lori Masters, and other DC Statehood supporters.  Every year, DC Statehood advocates use the 4th of July to remind the rest of the country that residents of Washington DC do not have the same rights that residents of the 50 states have.  DC is the host of at least three 4th of July parades throughout the city.  In prior years, the DC Statehood float traveled the city, and participated in at least two of the parades.  This year, organizers of the float decided to only do the Palisades 4th of July parade, taking the prize for Best Patriotic.  It is the first time the group is given this distinction, having participated in many prior versions of the parade.
