The community came together at the Busboys and Poets in Brookland to watch the documentary Paul Laurence Dunbar: Beyond the Mask. The powerful and inspiring documentary explores the life, literary brilliance, and enduring legacy of Paul Laurence Dunbar and his deep connection to Washington DC. The event also featured a panel discussion on the historic neighborhoods of Bates, Hanover, Old City II and Shaw, communities that helped shape the cultural and intellectual foundation of Black Washington. The event was hosted by Ana Rodriguez and Jennifer Ragins, and it featured the documentary’s producer, Mr. Frederick Lewis. Panelist members included: Bradley Thomas, BACA President, Leon Braddell, HCA President, and Shaunah Boone Williams, a student at Dunbar High School.
